John Giannini holds a bachelor’s degree in Dietetics from Virginia State University, and a master’s degree in Enology from California State University, Fresno.

In 1999, John conducted research under the supervision of Drs. Barry Gump and Bruce Zoecklein, and was awarded best Enology research paper at the eastern ASEV conference for that research.  John was also recognized as the outstanding Enology graduate student for his work with Dr. Roy Thornton.

John has worked in the wine industry since 1994.  Since that time he has worked in several California wineries and in 2004 accepted the position as winemaker for the Fresno State Winery on the campus of California State University, Fresno. 

 In addition to his winemaking duties, John teaches Introduction to Enology and Winery Equipment for VESTA through Missouri State University.

 John has given seminars to winemakers in California, Texas, and New Mexico, and also participates as a professional wine judge for several professional wine competitions.
