Parallel 44 is a five year old start-up winery located in Northeast Wisconsin (just 15 minutes east of Green Bay, WI). We currently produce 11,000 cases per year, with the goal of expanding over time. We produce wines from cold-hardy hybrid varietals grown in our vineyards in WI and grapes purchased from other WI vineyards, and New York State. We also produce limited vinifera wines and plan to grow into the production of vinifera-hybrid blends.
Our goal is to produce the best wines made in WI. We have won numerous awards and recognitions over the years for our wines, and this position is integral to continuing in this direction and success of our operation. The position reports to the Owner/ Wine Maker and; performs all duties pertinent to the production and development of premium quality wines.
THIS IS A WORKING ASSISTANT WINEMAKER POSITION. Applicant should have a full understanding and experience in every aspect of winemaking, with hands-on experience in harvest/fermentation, filtering, production/blending, bottling, winery and equipment sanitation, and equipment repair and maintenance.
Responsibilities Include, but are not limited to:
- Establishing relationships with in-state and out-state growers,
- harvest/crush operations, including operating equipment such as crusher/ destemmer, press, and pumps,
- wine production, including operating all equipment such as tanks, pumps, filter, etc.
- Cellar/facility maintenance, including proper set up, use, sanitation, and care of all cellar equipment, and cleaning and sanitizing tanks, hoses, pumps and the winery building.
- bottling operations, including routine work on bottling line and set-up, sanitation, and clean-up,
- forklift operations with barrels and case goods,
- laboratory operations and analysis,
- purchasing raw materials,
- maintaining winemaking records,

- TTB reports/ compliance.
Qualifications Include, but are not limited to:
• Minimum 5 years experience and/ or education or a combination thereof as cellar worker/ assistant winemaker and /or degree in Enology/Fermentation Science/Viticulture or related science
• Experience in managing and organizing other full-time and part-time winery laborer,
• Proven ability to produce award winning premium wines while maintaining the cost objectives of the winery, including wine/blend decisions, wine movement, finishing and bottling.
• Well developed leadership skills—the ability to analyze, problem-solve and adapt to changing priorities
• Experience with laboratory environment, equipment accurate analysis and safety procedures
• Ability to maintain equipment and a sanitary work environment
• Viticulture knowledge/picking decisions and assistance in field work as needed
• Knowledge of Compliance related issues pertaining to TTB and other regulatory agencies for the production and sale of wine
• Ability to interact with internal and external customers and to represent the winery in the professional community
• Participate in sales, marketing and public relations to educate about the wines, winemaking, vineyard and winery
• Project a positive image at numerous company functions as a winery representative

• Ability to work extended hours especially during harvest.

Description - Tinhorn Creek Vineyards in the Okanagan Region of British Columbia, Canada is seeking a Viticulturist/Vineyard Manager to oversee a 130 acre vineyard operation growing ultra-premium wine grapes. Responsibilities will include planning, scheduling, crop load management, harvest coordination, and planting. Ideal candidates will have formal training in viticulture and at least ten years' relevant experience.
